Yikes. Sign me up. Now.

Yikes. Sign me up. Now.

So what exactly IS this job?

According to the website, the key responsibilities for this job include “Exploring the island”, “swimming”, “feeding the fish”, and “checking the mail.” Essentially, you get to live the dream– lounge on a beautiful tropical island, doing what you’d normally do on a week-long vacation, only for this is for six months. The real story behind this dream job is that it is a marketing stunt by Australia’s department of tourism, and the real responsibilities would be blogging about how much fun you’re having and occasionally speaking to the media!

What about pay?

The job pays a contracted salary of around $100,000 US Dollars. Not too shabby.

What is required to be eligible for this job?

Well, all you really need to do is fill out a short form and create an entertaining 60 second video that explains why you’re perfect for the job. The application process ends on February 22nd, 2009. Oh, and you have to be over 18.

What makes this one of the best jobs in the world?

It hardly even needs to be said. Lounging in the tropics for six months with little to no responsibility and getting paid 6 figures to do it? This is literally, hands down, the best job in the world.

Does this job have any downsides?

You may need to buy a lot of sunscreen.
